Job Description :
Works under general direction, specifications and manufacturing process plans to perform a wide variety of optical manufacturing processes including CNC polishing, grinding, optical handling/cleaning, optical evaluation, and machine set-up. Uses optical and mechanical measuring devices such as interferometers, gauges, and microscopes to evaluate optical components.
Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd according to the collective bargaining agreement between Lockheed Martin and the UAW.

Basic Qualifications
Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement
Experience with mechanical/optical evaluation
Experience with handling optical materials
The ability to use hand tools and precision machining tools effectively is required.
The ability to read schematics and engineering drawings is required.
The ability to test parts to ensure they meet finished specifications is required.
A mechanical aptitude is required which is sufficient to perform this role effectively.
The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required.

Desired skills
Experience with optical alignment is desired.
Experience with lasers, imaging systems, optical metrology is desired.
Experience with interferometers and spectrometers is desired.
Experience working as a machinist with CNC machines is desired.
Familiarity with troubleshooting radius, irregularity and surface requirements is desired.
Prior experience with optics at the technician level is strongly desired but not required.
Familiarity with the following items is desired: optical elements, lenses, rough and finish grind flats, prisms, mirrors, shop aids, test plates, and special shaped elements.
Experience with controlling contours, thickness wedge and surface quality.
Experience with MIL-PRF-13830B and other related Optical MIL specifications is desired
