Are you the kind of person who is fascinated by helicopters? Do you love diving into data to understand and model the underlying phenomena? The Commercial Fleet Analytics group is looking for a Systems Architect to drive data modeling and ingestion efforts with the goal to maintain the Sikorsky aircraft as the most reliable in the world.

Group Description:

Sikorsky’s Intelligent Technologies Analytics & Sustainability (iTAS) team applies Sikorsky-developed technology, processes and expertise to aircraft data in order to drive proactive decision-making throughout the business. Data generated from on-board health usage and monitoring system (HUMS), aircraft operations, and aircraft maintenance is collected, conditioned and analyzed to identify opportunities for improvements to an aircraft’s design and supportability. The ultimate goal of iTAS is to increase the availability of supported aircraft, reduce operational costs and to enable a strategic business shift to condition-based maintenance. iTAS’ rapidly evolving Commercial Analytics team supports the Commercial Aftermarket through accurate and actionable information, proactive identification of problems, and development of innovative solutions.

Specific Responsibilities:

The Systems Architect Sr develops, maintains, and enhances complex software systems (e.g., web services, databases, process-intensive analytics, manipulation of large data sets) based upon business needs. Works individually or as part of a team in an agile, fast paced environment. Resolves problem reports. Communicates with iTAS customers and team members to gather requirements and produce outputs aligned with strategic business objectives, within schedule and budgetary constraints. Enables proactive identification of impending fleet issues, proposes solutions, validates results and monitors success.

Must have sufficient understanding of both databases and computer programming.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering, Math/Stats or a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.

Software development experience using at least two or more of the following: Java, C++, JavaScript, SQL, Python.

Desired skills
Strong problem-solving capabilities; ability to devise solutions for complex business problems.
Experience in a relational data model, design and development of database tables, views, procedures, and runtime optimization (Oracle SQL).
Experience with the Web Services architectures (REST, Swagger, JavaScript, JSON, Spring Framework).
Familiarity with data mining/analysis tools (e.g. JMP, R, Python)
Self-starter with can-do attitude and a strong sense of ownership
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams and customers to devise and implement solutions
Familiarity with aircraft support/engineering concepts
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
