Job Description :
Employee will work on tasks associated with the handling, movement, preventive/corrective maintenance of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and other Rolling Stock; and work independently with complete procedures.

Specific tasks may include the following: perform maintenance and repairs on forklifts, pallet jacks, straddle carriers, kneel down transporters (KDT) and other associated MHE; transport MHE, KDT's, straddle carriers, trailers and portable air compressors; utilize signs, straps, pallets, chocks, jib booms, overhead cranes, forklifts, straddle carriers, gas and diesel powered trucks and other similar type handling equipment; perform weight testing using standard weights and related instrumentation; perform preventive and corrective maintenance on MHE and associated support equipment; provide assistance to other employees as needed. Obtain and maintain qualifications that are necessary to perform the work described above.

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Position is located at the Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific (SWFPAC) in Silverdale, WA.

Basic Qualifications
1) Ability to repair and maintain automotive and material handling equipment.

2) Ability to use special automotive hand tools, precision measuring instruments, power hand tools and gauges.

3) Familiarity of AC/DC theory and electronic test equipment and devices as applied to automotive and electric powered vehicles; familiarity of hydraulics as applied to lifting equipment.

4) Familiarity of automotive shop theory and practice.

5) Ability to read and interpret manufacturers' specifications, diagrams and symbols.

6) Ability to use arithmetic, including decimals and fractions.

7) Ability to qualify for and maintain certificates and/or licenses to perform assigned duties (e.g. Forklift, Heavy Equipment, Trucks & Trailers).

8) Possess a valid State of Washington driver's license.

9) Ability to pass pre-employment physical.

Desired skills
1. Automotive/diesel vocational training
2. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications are highly desired in refrigerant recovery/recycling
3. Additional experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and A/C systems is beneficial
4. Ability to read and interpret schematics/drawings
5. Previous forklift and/or overhead crane experience
6. Class A CDL
7. Computer experience with Microsoft Office applications and maintenance databases.
8. Demonstrated ability to read and strictly follow written procedures.
9. Experience/knowledge of hazardous material processing requirements.
