Job Description :
This engineering position is with our Historic Skunk Works in Palmdale, California.


This position supports the LM Aero - Advanced Development Program as Aeronautical Engineer, Staff for the Flight Control and Vehicle Management Systems (FC&VMS) integration team.
• Contribute to aircraft design, configuration development, feasibility and risk analyses, and technology maturation plans from the FC&VMS perspective.
• Define, Develop, analyze and coordinate FC&VMS requirements with other flight sciences disciplines as well as ground and flight test, reliability & maintainability, system safety, and other personnel.
• Responsibility includes flow down of requirements to procurement specifications (Vehicle Management Computer, Air Data System, Actuation System, Inceptors, Sensors), and management of vendor selection and vendor performance, including verification of requirements.
• Close coordination with the propulsion community is required for flight control and for ground testing.
• Develop models and simulations as needed for design and analysis.
• Perform trade studies and define requirements for VMS architecture components.
• Design mechanical and electronic interfaces to support software development, integration and test.
• Define high level software requirements.

Good oral and written communication skills are required as is the ability to flex and adapt in a fast-paced team environment. Complex organization and documentation skills are required.

Must be a US Citizen, position is located at a facility that requires special access. Must have ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor or above Degree in a Engineering Technical or Scientific Discipline

Flight Control Systems experience

Experience with supplier selection and management (such as SOW / Vendor management)

Desired skills
Flight simulation experience
Hands-on experience with system build, system integration, and test
Supersonic air vehicle experience
MATLAB, Simulink experience
Experience with software configuration management.
Experience in all aspects of the VMS development lifecycle: architecture, requirements, design, development, integration, testing, and flight test.
Experience programming in C/C++ and embedded software.
Experience with serial buses
Demonstrated ability coordinating with systems engineering, hardware designers and subsystems
