This is an early career opportunity in Cybersecurity Engineering.
What types of responsibilities will you have in this position?
• Provide System Security Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Information Assurance support to configure and/or validate secure systems and test products and systems to detect security weakness.
• Perform or evaluate vulnerability scans on systems utilizing approved network scanning tools and appropriate Government provided software and scanning tools.
• Develop information systems security plans and procedures.
• Participate in assessments of security engineering designs and implementation in all aspects of Security Engineering and Information Assurance.
• Assess and mitigate system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle; validate system security requirements definition and analysis; establish system security designs; implement security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures; verify security requirements; perform system certification and accreditation planning and testing and liaison activities, and support secure systems operations and maintenance.
• Security hardening and STIG compliance for Linux systems.
• Collecting and analyzing logs from fielded systems.
• Supporting with the definition and documentation of Cybersecurity policies and techniques and procedures for conducting assessments and resolution.
• Collaborating cross functional groups, including but not limited to the following: software engineering, systems engineering, and field services.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, System’s Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Experience with or working knowledge with Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and/or System Administration.
• Familiar with OS and Command Lines.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to research and analyze problems based on limited or ambiguous data.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Ability to obtain an interim DoD Secret clearance prior to starting in the position (requires US citizenship).

Desired skills
• Familiarity or experience with DoD/NIST RMF processes and artifact development.
• Knowledge of the Systems Engineering Life Cycle.
• Basic network knowledge to include routers, switches and firewalls.
• Management of switches including network protocols (SNMP) and switch configuration settings.
• Familiarity or experience with STIG Analysis.
• Experience with System Administration and Security hardening for Linux/Unix.
• Effective analytical and critical thinking skills – proven problem solving and follow through in high-pressure situations.
• Proven ability to prioritize and work multiple efforts simultaneously.
• Working toward the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
