Job Description :
Reporting into the Director of Marketing Communications, this is a leadership role within the Marketing Communications team at Lockheed Martin’s Corporate Headquarters. This person is responsible for a broad portfolio of events as well as advising the Executive Leadership Team and Business Area leaders on protocol- and event-management matters while ensuring effective communication with Executive Office, Business Development, Business Areas and Communications function.

A successful candidate will be equally comfortable with providing detailed conference planning, protocol and customer engagement training and managing high-level engagements with distinguished visitors. Overall, a dedication to creating exceptional experiences for all intended audiences is critical. Other responsibilities may include; developing and maintaining relationships with external protocol officers, international organizations, and other key stakeholders; supporting weekday, evening, weekend and various holiday events, and performing other duties as required by management and stakeholders. Some travel required.

Basic Qualifications
• Prior experience managing large, multifaceted events.
• Prior experience managing a budget.
• Prior experience collaborating with, managing or marketing communications teams.
• Prior exposure to corporate, diplomatic or military protocol, business etiquette, customer engagement or cultural training.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Desired skills
• Minimum of 2 years with direct management experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
• Prior experience in taking a major program from concept to approval and execution.
• Demonstrated ability to use creative problem solving skills to take corporate events from the every-day to the extraordinary.
• Prior exposure to military or diplomatic protocol.
• Experience managing and advising high level executives, especially in relation to ceremonial engagements.
• Effective communications skills – writing, speaking and engaging with peers and supervisors and an ability to work well in a diverse team.
• Awareness of the hospitality industry and industry standards in catering and event planning.
