Job Description :
· Chief Engineer for programs which provide our customers products for commercial nuclear Instrumentation and Control applications including Reactor Protection, Engineered Safety Features, Post Accident Monitoring, Integrated Control, Plant Computer and Control Room Design. This position will operationally report to the LM Commercial Nuclear Systems Chief Engineer, with direct reporting to the LM Energy line of business Chief Engineer.

· Candidates must possess demonstrated strong leadership and negotiating skills to interface effectively with nuclear utility management and execute large contracts. The position is responsible for supporting the program area in meeting all commitments including technical performance, regulatory compliance, schedule, and cost for this particular contract.

· Manages the resource deployment, planning, design, engineering, manpower estimating, production support, and testing of program deliverables, including Instrumentation and Control products for commercial nuclear instrumentation and control applications.

· Responsible for all aspects of technical performance and delivery of technical products throughout the requirements, design, implementation and test life cycle phases.

· Prepares bid sheets, work packages and supports contract development for follow on contracts.

· Must have the experience, drive, and demonstrated capability to lead a team of approximately 40 engineers of varying disciplines and to provide technical excellence and mission success. 

· Requires excellent leadership skills and demonstration of all the tenants of Full Spectrum Leadership in previous assignments. 

· Requires effective task organization and communication skills to lead a team of engineers to evaluate, design, build, and test instrumentation and control systems for commercial nuclear power applications.

· Work with commercial nuclear plant licensees and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to obtain a usable Safety Evaluation Report (SER) for safety-related Instrumentation and Control systems .

· Monitor risks to the programs and close existing and future audit gap findings through corrective actions. Continuous assessment and updating staffing needs is also required.

· Customer negotiations as required to establish solid exit criteria for deliverable items.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. The successful candidate will be required to communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to the customer.

· Working knowledge of dealing with subcontractors and subcontract technical management is a plus.

· Domestic travel will be required; a travel requirement of approximately 50 to70% is needed to support this contract for at least 6 months.

· Relocation:  Relocation assistance is possible for this position. 

· The Locale: Grand Prairie is part of the “Mid-Cities” region in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which is in the North Central region of Texas. Grand Prairie is a suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth. The region offers a great cost of living combined with a robust economy and a pleasant climate.  The Mid-Cities is the suburban region filling the thirty-mile span between Dallas and Fort Worth. These communities include the cities of Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville, HEB (Hurst, Euless and Bedford), NRH (North Richland Hills and Richland Hills), Haltom City, Watauga, and Keller, along with multiple other smaller towns such as Trophy Club and Roanoke and together represent more people than either Dallas or Fort Worth.

Basic Qualifications
· Must have ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

· B.S. in engineering or technical degree

· Technical management experience and proven budget management experience

· Proven schedule development and implementation experience

· Demonstrated ability to effectively manage change, identify issues, work with stakeholders to develop solutions

· Demonstrated ability as team player to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships with multiple customers

· Experience leading large and complex teams

· Excellent customer and company interface background

· Outstanding communication skills

· Ability to make sound technical decisions and drive towards a system design to meet requirements

· Ability to make good decisions with limited data Management skills (planning, cost / schedule control, delegation, etc.)

· Must be able to travel

Desired skills
· Leadership skills (Full Spectrum Leadership characteristics)

· Experience with commercial nuclear power instrumentation and control systems

· Experience with digital instrumentation and control licensing issues and US NRC

· Experience in maturing hardware from development to production

· Experience with equipment qualification testing

· Experience with safety culture associated with commercial nuclear projects

· Experience with commercial grade dedication of safety related products and services

· Experience in all program phases and ability to work with teams in all phases
