The Development Operations (DevOps) Systems Engineer will be responsible for the following:
• Working closely with development teams to integrate their projects into the AWS environments and ensure their ongoing support once there
• Gaining a deep application-level knowledge of the systems as well as contributing to their overall design
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to application development, deployment and operations including deep dive into infrastructure and application stack to troubleshoot as needed
• Automating provisioning, deployment, configuration management, monitoring and all other infrastructure and ops activities
• Developing templates or scripts to automate everyday developer or operations functions
• Monitoring and maintaining multiple (DevOps) environments
• Setting up or managing backups and patching across the environments
• Setting up alarms, event trigger or dashboard to monitor AWS resource workloads
• Identifying new tools and processes to improve the cloud platform and automate processes
• Documenting system and create Standard Operating Instructions (SOIs)
• Setting up, configuring and monitoring all environments including production using cloud computing platforms and local resources
• Establishing disaster recovery, service outage, and risk mitigation processes for the production environments
• Establishing the right infrastructure architecture, balancing performance and resilience with cost
• Being a DevOps champion - working closely with other internal teams to build security, reliability, and scalability into the development lifecycle

Basic Qualifications
Accredited B.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.

• Experience with automating the implementation, configuring and managing of complex computing environments (AWS/Cloud experience a plus)
• Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
• Understanding of multi-tier application architectures
• Foundational understanding of application development lifecycle
• Familiar with “continuous build” methodologies to include setting up build, deployment and automated test execution.
• Comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
• Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
• Ability to use a wide variety of technologies and tools
• Familiar with security engineering practices
• Experience with IT system design and operations
• A working understanding of code and script (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)

Desired skills
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering or Software Engineering.

• Experience with automation/configuration management including some familiarity with one or more automation tools
• Experience with working in an agile development lifecycle and continuous integration processes using tools such as Jenkins
