Job Description :
The Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) media relations representative supports the business area’s Cyber Solutions, Electronic Warfare and Sensor Technologies capability portfolios. In coordination with business development and the program communications leads, this person will interact with the Government Affairs team, as well as external teammates, customer public affairs contacts and suppliers, as deemed necessary.

Reporting to the RMS senior manager of Media Relations, Thought Leadership and Government Affairs Communications, this individual serves as the point of contact for these capabilities for all media, including trade, Tier 1, local, and regional. This individual works in coordination with the line of business communications teams to develop the media relations portion of an integrated strategy supporting key programs/milestones, including international communications, M&A and crisis situations, such as labor issues, business continuity, etc.

The media lead coordinates closely with other communications professionals, business development, and government relations on additional externally focused activities including social media, marketing communications, and legislative relations. This individual will also build strong partnerships with the media relations teams across Lockheed Martin to ensure alignment on outreach.

This position will be based Washington, DC.

Basic Qualifications
Exceptional writing, editing and oral communications skills with the ability to convey highly complex information in clear, compelling ways
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong project leadership skills. Must have strong writing skills and proficiency in AP style writing.
• Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with news media, colleagues and executive leadership.
• Experience in developing and executing integrated strategic communications plans to support key internal and external stakeholders
• Motivated self starter who performs without appreciable direction and works effectively under competing priorities and tight deadlines
• Quick study with an attention to detail and a sense of urgency
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Familiarity with contemporary communications and industry trends
