Lockheed Martin is seeking a Flight Vehicle Performance / Trajectory Analysis Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX to perform rocket motor trades and system flight performance trades for an air launched hypersonic vehicle. Work will also include 3-DOF performance and trajectory evaluations of the system concepts, and booster control system sizing. Successful candidates will have working knowledge of solid rocket motor propulsion, missile aerodynamics and performance, trajectory shaping, 3-DOF and 6-DOF flight simulations.

The Advanced Programs area includes some of the brightest minds in Lockheed Martin, working on cutting-edge weapon systems to support our warfighters. The successful candidate will be at home in a fast-paced, change oriented environment where innovation and agility are critical to program success.

Basic Qualifications
Aerospace Engineering degree or equivalent.

Experience with a high-level programming language such as Fortran or C++. Experience with MATLAB. Familiarity with flight performance prediction methods. Understanding of standard coordinate systems used in flight vehicle performance analysis. Understanding of 3DOF and 6DOF flight simulations. Experience with guided missile trajectory analysis. Experience with solid rocket motor performance and knowledge of solid rocket design principles.

Candidates must be familiar with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience with creating presentation-ready plots of performance data sets and communicating trade study results to other engineers and management. Excellent communications skills are required.

The ability to work in a fast-paced work environment is essential to success.

Candidates must possess a Secret or higher security clearance to be considered for this position.

Desired skills
Experience running missile simulations is a plus.

Hypersonic aerodynamics experience is a plus, especially in the areas of flight vehicle design, hypersonic vehicle controls, hypersonic wind tunnel testing, or hypersonic flight testing.

Experience with hardware-in-the-loop simulations is a plus.
