Job Description :
Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company's Optical Payload Center of Excellence is seeking a candidate for electro-optic (EO) payload development with a focus on the integrated Payload System. The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will involve all aspects of the electronics development and integration activities of our E-O Payloads. The candidate will provide program technical support for hardware design, hardware and software interface compatibility, verification event development, test program coordination and hardware delivery. They may be asked to support development of Payload system level impacts for proposals, risks and opportunities, ConOp development, Payload system level requirements generation and flowdown across multiple components. The candidate will design an E-O Payload component with a focus on electronics/electrical activities.
The position responsibilities include:
• As a electronics designer you will design and analyze component or unit level electronics
• Will work in multi-disciplinary teams for both internally provided and subcontracted hardware
• Some domestic travel is expected
• Understanding of the Specifications, derived requirements flowdown, the Payload component/unit design, ConOp, and interface requirements
• Participate in the requirements development and verification planning including support for overall test program and data trending
• Work with the IPT, CPEs, Subcontract Manager and Program Management to coordinate Payload component and System level impacts in response to Request for Proposals including generation of Technical Volumes and Assumptions
• Support design reviews at the Payload and component levels and ensure successful closure of all action items and design artifacts
• Support resolution of test failures, hardware anomalies, and provide support to system engineering during critical program milestones

Basic Qualifications
• BS in Electrical Engineering or physics with 2 years or a MS
• Background in electronics, electro-optics, or physics
• familiarity with relevant performance parameters used in E-O Systems
• Practical knowledge of laboratory hardware for electro-optical component characterization
• Familiarity with integration, test and verification of electronics and/or sensor systems
• Experience with electronics processor requirements and usage
• Knowledge of requirements and writing specifications based on system requirements
• Knowledge of the development of verification planning and approaches
• Good communication skills
• Ability to obtain a security clearance

Desired skills
• Advanced degree in electro-optics, electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Space Based EO sensor signal chain design experience
• Space hardware experience
• Radiation testing and qualification of electro-optical hardware
• Experience on a development program
• Strong understanding of digital electronics, especially high speed serial interfaces (Gbps class), signal integrity, and timing
• Experience with FPGAs/ASICs for high-reliability applications
• Experience developing RTL utilizing a hardware description language (e.g. VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog) and debug the design via simulation tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
• Effectively manage change
• Active TS/SCI Clearance
