Job Description :
This position is the leadership role for the Manufacturing Engineering team that supports the Tactical Missiles and CMS areas (AGMS, JCWS, JASSM, LRASM, etc). This position owns the functional leadership for the program Manufacturing Engineers and the IPTs. The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated leadership and technical skills and experience in the discipline of manufacturing engineering for assembly, test and integration of complex electro-opto-mechanical systems and related processes, and will have a working knowledge of the skills and support needed by programs for production management above the shop floor.

Responsible for the schedule and budgetary execution of operational objectives. Assigns tasks and reviews work for completion and adequacy in meeting objectives. Provides employee input/feedback and supports required HR Reviews. Leads concurrent engineering efforts in the development of new product and all other phases of the respective program’s product life cycle.
Active involvement in daily operations to meet critical schedules or resolve complex problems. Leads the team in Engineering Change incorporation approach, Process Improvement, and Teaming initiatives.

Must have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications
B.S. in relevant Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Materials, Manufacturing, Industrial, etc)

-Experience with manufacturing tooling design and fabrication.
-Demonstrated the ability to coach key skills with subordinates, resulting in overall team growth and performance improvements. Demonstrated personnel recruiting, training and development skills. History of continuous learning and demonstrated practice as an advocate of a teaching culture.

The candidate will have the skills to:
-motivate, collaborate with, and develop a high performance team.
-managing recurring and non-recurring Manufacturing Engineering activities and personnel to meet schedule and cost commitments.
-have strategic vision and be able to lead the development of technical roadmaps, drive execution of internal research and development projects, develop business cases and the justification of research, manpower, equipment plans.
-drive internal savings by implementing initiatives such as Yield Improvements, Cost Step-Downs, Process Improvements, Lean, and Manufacturing Technology enhancements and by improving the business processes used to execute Recurring and Non-recurring support.
-demonstrate a working knowledge of optical assembly, mechanical assembly and electrical assembly.
-lead the identification of cause and corrective action of technical production problems and the development of re-work instructions when needed.
-strong ability in written and verbal technical communication skills. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the business and across all disciplines (e.g. technical and non-technical staff, external customers, program management).
-the successful candidate will also possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills in one or more of the following disciplines - mechanical engineering, optical engineering, electrical engineering, metrology engineering, and/or material science - and be able to adapt those skills in support of manufacturing within the programs supported.
-Broad and deep experience, thorough technical understanding and demonstrated technical leadership skills in the disciplines of manufacturing engineering for the final assembly of complex optical-mechanical-electrical systems.

Desired skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage overhead, support staff, and capital execution budgets is strongly desired.
- Demonstrated ability to build organizational talent via hiring and by mentoring, including the development and execution of succession, transition and cross-training plans.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise business acumen with appropriate capital and facility planning, justification and execution.
- Demonstration of a learning orientation by continuing to learn personally and evidence of driving a learning culture as a leader.
- Depth, and breadth in skills and/or experience across multiple disciplines of manufacturing related to the production of MFC products is strongly desired.
- Project management experience.
- Understanding and wide application of complex Electro-Optical Final Assembly, Integration and Test methods.
- Experience in representing Operations teams for a wide range of difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
- Hands on experience in the design of manufacturing processes, Work Instructions, equipment installation, machining and material handling.
- Experience in effective team leadership in planning and execution of Process Improvements and technical solutions.
- Execution of Capital and First Unit Flow planning; Make-Buy analysis.
- Experience in Manufacturing & Test Statement of Work and generation of Proposal Basis of Estimate input.
- Team leadership in the root cause evaluation and identification of corrective action solutions.
- Highly skilled at interpretation of Engineering specifications and the translation into effective Work Instructions.
- Effective communicator and team-builder across multiple levels of management and functional teams.
- Experience in effective collaboration with engineering to develop assembly design concepts and specification requirements.
- Excellent Team facilitation skills and effective use of Lean Six-Sigma tools.
- Breadth in skills and/or experience across multiple disciplines of optical assembly, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly and related processes is strongly desired.
- M.S. in Engineering

The desired technical skills include deep, detailed experience and knowledge of:
- mechanical assembly skills such as general and precision assembly including stabilized platform gimbals, mechanical assembly of missile products, mechanical assemblies with optical elements, and structural assembly, working knowledge of standard metrology including torque tools, micrometers, calipers and microscopes,
- electrical assembly skills such as circuit card assembly, cable harnesses fabrication, black boxes and electrical metrology including multi-meters, oscilloscopes and function generators.
