Job Description :
Assignments are received in task and objective oriented terms. Provides direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance. Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to complete assignments would normally result in serious delays to assigned projects resulting in considerable expenditure of additional time, human resources, and funds. Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customers and industry peers at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling of specific phases of projects or contracts.
This requisition is to fill the position of Materials and Distribution Manager at Missiles and Fire Control Orlando. The job scope includes the management of 3-6 direct report managers, associate managers or team leads with a total staff of 30-35 employees consisting of salaried exempt/non-exempt salaried and/or represented/non-represented hourly employees in the management of materials and the manufacturing support functions associated with Production Planning & Control. Over sees production systems integrity and drives inventory optimization to minimize cost. This position requires the candidate to have experience working in a union contract environment.
Develop the department’s organizational structure and perform strategic manpower planning.
Track and manage budgets and overhead cost. Responsible for creating, monitoring and reporting on all executive operations metrics.
Travel may be required to production sites and/or supplier locations.
Work outside of the normal operating hours may be required.

Basic Qualifications
Candidate must have experience in logistics to include domestic and international transportation. Understanding of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations as it relates to the movement of materials via common carriers to include carrier rates, service capabilities, packaging of hardware and over/short and damage claims.

Candidate must have 5-7 years previous experience in at least two, if not all of the areas of Receiving, Transportation, Inventory or Shipping. Candidate must have experience working with a representative work force.

Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with multiple levels of Management, industry peers, a represented workforce and internal and external customers. Demonstrate proficient knowledge of computer systems, databases, and programs. Experience assigning/managing projects to organizational unit by leading team of managers and/or staff to meet critical schedules, resolve complex and time sensitive technical or operational issues. Ability to obtain a security clearance. Previous leadership experience. Strategic thinker with lean manufacturing focus / (Greenbelt certified or equivalent). Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets. Related experience in material handling, control systems and ERP systems. Experience supporting Material Management and Accounting System (MMAS).
Must possess and demonstrate Full Spectrum Leadership competencies

Desired skills
Experience managing a Shipping and Receiving operation.
An understanding of the US Government's transportation system.
Certified by the DOT and IATA (International Air Transport Association) for the transportation of hazardous materials.
Experience with inventory and receiving operations
Knowledge of DOT regulations covering private fleet operations.
Domestic Transportation experience.
3-6 years import/export experience or hold a Custom Brokers license
US Customs Regulations Import and Export knowledge.
Previous ITAR experience
SAP Warehouse Management knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in related field

Inventory Control and material handling knowledge.
Black Belt trained / certified.
Control Account Manager (CAM) certified.
APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification.
Knowledge of industry wide best practices and processes for managing material flow throughout the entire production supply chain.
