Job Description :
Advanced Programs Intelligence Systems (AP-IS) in the Special Programs LOB seeks a Software Systems Engineer to support the LEO Mission Status System (LMSS) and related development efforts. The successful candidate will join a small team, in a dynamic operational environment, that has base contracts and optional follow-on work supporting an excited customer and user community that is using the software directly to help the warfighter. The team also has supplemental IRAD funding to advance current technologies and develop future concepts for the franchise program, and to position itself to win new business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, conducting, and coordinating systems engineering activities in support of the full software development life-cycle, including: system CONOPS development; system architecture documentation; requirements decomposition and management; algorithm design; interface management; and verification and validation. Responsibilities will include developing software change requests, impact statements, performance analysis, operating instructions, technical documentation and training materials, and actively supporting operational planning activities. The successful candidate will also support customer engagement, end-user training, business development and project/program management activities. Domain knowledge of SP LOB end-user mission needs will be applied while performing these functions across the entire Advanced Programs portfolio under the guidance of senior engineering staff and project leadership.

Basic Qualifications
Ability and willingness to obtain SCI access.
Experience planning, conducting, and coordinating systems engineering activities in support of the software development life cycle.
Ability to express end-user mission needs in terms of architecture and/or system requirements.
Demonstrated ability to develop algorithms for implementation in software.
Ability to document and test software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to Intelligence Community mission problems.
Familiarity with architecture modeling and documentation tools.
Ability to quickly respond to requests for information or analysis.
Awareness of NSIS standards, processes, procedures, and tools used throughout the software development life cycle. NSIS standards includes site surveys, PSA, PSR and required CDRLs.
Domain knowledge of the mission needs of consumers of NTM data in the Intelligence Community.
Willingness to support proposal activities to win follow on business.
Able to support occasional business travel requirements as determined by the organization.
Excellent communication skills, both in presenting and writing.

Desired skills
Experience performing systems engineering activities spanning all phases of the software development lifecycle, particularly component level reviews/meetings (SRR, CDR, TRR, etc.).
Experience implementing / using Model Based Systems Engineering Tools and Processes
Java programming ability & knowledge of Oracle or other relational databases 
Familiarity with object oriented programming principles 
Knowledge of the UNIX and/or widows programming environment & UNIX shell scripting.
Familiarity with configuration management principles including software release tools/processes and management of data. 
Experience with DOORS. Experience modeling system architectures with DoDAF and SysML tools (Rhapsody, Cameo).
Experience generating BOEs / ROMs
Ability to apply appropriate NSIS standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. NSIS standards include site surveys, PSA, PSR and required CDRLs.
Familiarity with the needs of SP LOB end users, and experience working with end users to translate capability needs into software system requirements.
Knowledge of SP LOB data sources and system Concepts of Operations (CONOPS). 
Knowledge of SP LOB subject matter sufficient to develop requirements/prototypes to be developed in mission applications. 
Ability to support multiple technical efforts concurrently.
Experience presenting interfacing with customers in working level meetings.
Project leadership experience.
Familiarity with the SSC Capture process.
Familiarity with the SSC IRAD process.
