Job Description :
The project engineer will support the Lead Project Engineer in the coordination and execution of the design, development, manufacturing, testing, certification, and delivery Crew Systems products. Typical equipment items are, in space stowage, crew seats, galley equipment, translation and mobility aid and other accommodations for Crew activities. These items include both structural and mechanisms design as well as softgoods. The project engineer will perform mechanical design work and collaborate with other Lockheed Martin departments such as loads and dynamics analysts, stress analysts, Materials and Processes, and quality. The project engineer will organize and lead design reviews and coordinate approvals. This will involve creating and making technical presentations. The project engineer will generate schedules and plans for his/her work to be approved by the Lead Project Engineer and be responsible for the execution of approved plans. The project engineer will also support verification of the products and integration of the hardware item into the Orion spacecraft..

Basic Qualifications
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Bachelor or advanced degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field
• Mechanical Design Experience
• Demonstrated ability to independently research design or other engineering solutions
• Experience in making technical presentations
• Excellent Oral/Written Communication skills;
• Experience in organizing and leading small teams
• Documented planning and project management skills
• Able to work in a multidiscipline team environment;
• Willing and able to travel (typical 1-2 week trip, 3-4 times per year)
• Excellent organizational skills - Ability to review and organize large amounts of engineering data

Desired skills
• Engineering release experience in disciplined review/release process
• Experience with CAD systems, specifically PTC ProE or CREO.
• Manufacturing Experience
• Experience in developing test plans
• Experience in test engineering
• Experience with developing space flight hardware
• Familiar with Human-In-The-Loop (HITL) evaluation and testing
