Job Description :
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Propulsion Engineer to join our creative team of engineers performing analysis, research, and design for air-breathing propulsion missile systems. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s highly innovative solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry. The assignment addresses air breathing propulsion analysis and research encompassing multiple engineering disciplines, and also includes the planning, design, development, and testing of new aerospace products.

The candidate will support all phases of detailed design, selection, development, integration and testing of the gas turbine engine, engine control logic and hardware, fuel system, and inlet that are involved in an air breathing propulsion missile system design. The candidate will be responsible for propulsion engineering analysis, and coordination of technical and schedule issues for the propulsion system to include its various subsystems and components leading up to the integration of the propulsion system into the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control missile systems.

Tasks include working with air-breathing propulsion contractors and suppliers to design and integrate solutions to the tactical missile propulsion system. In addition, the candidate will be performing and supporting system level trade studies, supporting missile level packaging studies, supporting development of interface control drawings, preparing performance specifications and statement of requirements that will be sent to the propulsion system subcontractor for use in propulsion system development and production. The candidate will act as the technical liaison with the propulsion system subcontractor during development and production to ensure all technical requirements are met. Associated efforts include supporting telecons, review of design package information, test plans and test results, supporting technical interchange meetings and design reviews, hardware fabrication and testing. The candidate will also function as the technical point of contact with other LMMFC organizations as well as LMMFC customers.

The Locale: Grand Prairie is part of the “Mid-Cities” region in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which is in the North Central region of Texas. Grand Prairie is a suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth. The region offers a great cost of living combined with a robust economy and a pleasant climate. The Mid-Cities is the suburban region filling the thirty-mile span between Dallas and Fort Worth. These communities include the cities of Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville, HEB (Hurst, Euless and Bedford), NRH (North Richland Hills and Richland Hills), Haltom City, Watauga, and Keller, along with multiple other smaller towns such as Trophy Club and Roanoke and together represent more people than either Dallas or Fort Worth.

Basic Qualifications
-Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
-BS degree from an accredited college in (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other field).
-2+ years of experience in propulsion system within the aerospace industry.
-Experience with the various aspects associated with propulsion system development and production to include associated subsystems and components.
-The candidate should have working knowledge in a 3D CAD software package.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
-Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating various specifications, statement of requirements, test plans, test reports and presentations.
-The candidate must be capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment.
-The candidate will also be considered experienced, but still a learner, and able to develop creative and innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
-Candidate must have strong leadership and organizational skills.
-Candidate must have the ability to travel.

Desired skills
-MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field with propulsion system experience in the aerospace industry or relevant education.
-Experience with planning and conducting flight tests, and post test data evaluation.
-Proven leadership with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
