Job Description :
This Enterprise Business Services (EBS) Research Scientist Sr position is part of the Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE) organization, supporting the Space Systems Company (SSC) IT Analytics Business Application team. This position will work closely with the SSC IT Analytics data scientist and analytics team members, performing data research and analysis, working with a variety of analytical tools and techniques to explore, analyze, and prepare data to provide solutions for our SSC customers. The data research and analysis will result in varying levels of data gathering, reporting and visualizations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Designs and develops methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze structured and unstructured, diverse sources
• Develops and uses advanced software programs, algorithms, querying and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate datasets and models complex business problems
• Works with cross-discipline teams in order to ensure connectivity between various databases and systems
• Identifies meaningful insights and interprets and communicates findings and recommendations
• May develop information tools, algorithms, dashboards, and queries to monitor and improve business performance
• Maintains awareness of emerging analytics technologies
• Plans, conducts, and coordinates programming application activities in support of research, engineering, and other related technical activities
• Analyzes applications and writes computer programs that contain logical and mathematical solutions to scientific problems or questions
• Applies knowledge of computer processes, subject matter to be programmed, and input from various users to develop and test programs
• Requires knowledge of mathematical calculation and algorithms to provide intricate analytic solutions to meet end user needs
• Experience designing efficient data mining and text mining frameworks with related tools
• Evaluation of data Analytics tools and technologies, provide recommendations, and determine how those tools will best be integrated into the Analytics environment
• Successful planning, software development, testing, deployment and maintenance of analytics applications and incorporating the full life-cycle management process

Other requirements:
• Work location must be at a US based Lockheed Martin site
• Off hours support for this position may include evenings, weekends and holidays
• Periodic travel to Lockheed Martin Space Systems sites may also be required

Basic Qualifications
• Familiarity with disciplines such as Natural Language Processing, Anomaly detection, Markov Chain and Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods, Machine Learning, Predictive modeling, Statistical Analysis and Hypothesis testing
• Demonstrated proficiency in designing efficient algorithms and performing analysis with a numerical scripting language such as R, Python or MATLAB
• SQL proficiency
• Experience with databases, such as Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA, etc.
• Strong working knowledge of basic statistical concepts such as point estimation, probability distributions, hypothesis tests, and how they can be applied
• Experience with integration and cleansing of disparate or incomplete data sets to deliver insight
• Effective use of front end reporting and visualization tools
• An understanding of traditional business intelligence and data warehousing concepts (data modeling, ETL, visualization reporting, etc.)
• Proven ability to successfully operate in an interactive local and virtual team environment
• Work experience demonstrating planning and problem solving expertise
• Experience managing and delivering multiple, critical business applications
• Demonstrated work experience managing priorities and customer requirements
• Demonstrated business acumen and ability to balance technical requirements with business needs
• Demonstrated full life cycle and sustainment experience, leveraging a disciplined engineering process for both implementation as well as Operations and Maintenance

• Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, customers, colleagues and suppliers and to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise and actionable manner
